Womens' Fashion Is Made Up

You heard me!

One night I couldn’t sleep and so I watched a ton of videos from these folks called The Gentleman’s Gazette. Their ideas, tips, and guides are smart and well put together. It taught me that classic men’s fashion is based upon a strong tradition, with a well-established hierarchy for social convention and formality; that can also be adapted and incorporate new styles in a tasteful manner. (I still do vote for the reincoropration of Byzantine style back into the modern wardrobe, though.)

It being Christmas time I decided if there were any guides on women’s fashion, so as to pick gifts for my lovely fianceĆ©. And then I discovered that women’s fashion was made up. The videos were insufferable too. Modernity seems to give women a one-dimensional scale of formality. That’s it.

The trends are all decided in corporate meeting rooms a season in advance. The modesty becomes increasingly not so every season. Keep in mind that for thousands of years, traditional women’s garb was, subject to minor variances in cultural style as well as the season and climate, layers of loose-fitting dresses with a shawl, cape, cloak, or mantle to go over, and a head covering. It was comfortable, stylish, practical, and versatile. The flocks of modern women, with her hair out and cut short (your fault flappers šŸ˜ ), wearing pants of all things (or worse, leggings), and sleeveless, short-cropped, back-less, etcetera, tops, would seem to our forbears extremely immodest and innapropriate.

NOW NOW NOW HEY HEY HOLD YOUR HORSES! I’m not saying anything mean about any woman ever, nor do I want to look down on any woman who wears her hair out and wears pants. But its important to understand where these trends come from. These trends come from men no longer choosing what women wear.

Men should choose what women wear. Husbands for their wives, fathers for their daughters, bishops for their flock, and kings for their people. When this happens, both men and women are happiest. Men choosing things for women in this natrual, relational, loving manner is a big no-no in the modern day, and that is what is hurting us so much.

So, I will be gifting my fianceƩ clothes that are modest and I think she will look beautiful in, recklessly ignoring every modern trend.

Ephesians
5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of
        the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to
        their own husbands in every thing.
5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and
        gave himself for it;

And now I shall go to bed, happily completing another helpful article that is free of all controversy.
